The Three Pillars April 5, 2021 Lionel Best BiG’s foundation is built on 3 key pillars. The pillars seek to address all aspects of self-progression from children and young people. Pillar 1: Motivational Educational ProgrammesDo you suffer with a lack of self esteem? Do you find it difficult to learn in the traditional way? BiG’s SHOCK programme is a combination of interactive classroom sessions and outdoor physical activities that helps children to develop a positive attitude to learning! 96% of participants said that after SHOCK, they felt more confident and resilient. Research shows that nobody is born with confidence, instead it is something that is learnt growing up. People with self-confidence have more control over their lives. This enables them to establish priorities, make judgements, and carry out strategies. Confidence is a key life skill in order to succeed in any life path. Pillar 2: Football and Community ProgrammesAre you looking to advance your technical skills and get a foot in the door of the football world? The BiG Elite Football Programme targets young talented footballers and trains them up to academy standards to create a polished player. With key insight from coach Lionel, an ex-semi-professional footballer, players are provided with essential knowledge and training. The BiG Elite Football Programme is also a way of connecting young footballers with their peers, creating a network of talented young people. How can you apply these skills in real life? This programme will provide you the foundational skills to elevate your football career to a more professional level. As well at this, the connections made and confidence built over the duration of the programmes is hugely important in providing young footballers with a sense of community. Pillar 3: Employability Skills ProgrammesAre you an individual who decided not to continue with education? Do you struggle with finding work due to lack of experience? The YSA Volunteers Scheme supports young women and men between 16-24 who are not in education or employment. It involves two phases; first aiming at changing mindsets and developing transferable skills, secondly it engages young people in education to gain employability skills. In real life, those who participated in the YSA Scheme are able to use their qualifications to enhance their CV and impress employers. The work experience can also lead to further opportunities such as higher education, an apprenticeship, or a traineeship!
